A special thanks went out to all our mercenaries followed by a fantastic musical performance!
As the final developers panel finished up the nights announcements and results, we thought it good to give our fans a moment to relax and just enjoy the rest of the night. The final event started with the final stage appearance of Hiromichi Tanaka for Fan Festival 2007. His parting words were a sincere thank you and tribute to all of our hard working mercenaries who made the event a great success. As he existed, the room darkened putting focus on the thin white curtain hanging at the edge of the stage. After a few subtle tones of building refrain, the curtain dropped to reveal guest performers The Smash Bros.! Their first piece, a tribute to "Vana'diel March" introduced their set comprising entirely of selections from the music of FINAL FANTASY XI. The band paused after the first track to say hello to the audience and introduce themselves. They then returned to play two more tracks: "Dungeon Battle #2" and the theme to "Norg".
The Smash Bros. is a band comprised of individual game composers. These talented individuals were excited when we asked them to play their tributes to FINAL FANTASY XI music at Fan Festival 2007 and FINAL FANTASY XI composer Naoshi Mizuta soon entered the stage to express his appreciation for their take on the soundtrack he created.
Naoshi Mizuta then handed the mic back to The Smash Bros. who continued their set with "Fifth Ode: A Time for Prayer" and "Voyager".
The next guest to the stage was Star Onions member and one of the original FINAL FANTASY XI composers Kumi Tanioka! The Smash Bros. took a break to hear her play two beautiful piano solos from the original FINAL FANTASY XI soundtrack: "Distant Worlds" and "Awakening" and a new piece from the Wings of the Goddess Expansion! Between her performances, Naoshi Mizuta again took the stage to thank Kumi Tanioka for performing and comment on the tracks. After her performance, she reintroduced The Smash Bros. who returned to close the evening.
The Smash Bros. ended their set with the theme from "Selbina" and a rock rendition of the "Airship" music. Kumi Tanioka and Naoshi Mizuta returned to the stage once again to thank the band, only to prompt the audience for an encore! The Smash Bros. rushed to the stage playing two more tracks: a country version of the theme from "Ronfaure" and finally a metal composition of the "Battle Theme". Everyone came to the stage one last time for a final bow, a huge thank you to all the attendees and fans and even stuck around much longer to give autographs to the fans who came forward. It was a wonderful end to an exciting weekend!
